Boston Wife
My dream is not to be a cook,
But to ready privately
Every meal left on your book,
And to do so happily.
My dream is not to be a mom,
But to parent, if you will—
Our tiny Claire or tiny Tom,
In a serious way, or chill.
My dream is not to be handyman,
But I’ll gladly fix our sink;
Might struggle too, to fix our fan,
But you’ll cheer me with a wink.
See, my dream is not to win this life,
But to do well for what’s after.
So will you be my Boston wife,
And earn with me our Hereafter?
